![]() Pick a letter for your drive and you should be good to go. In Disk Management, just right-click on the disk and choose Change Drive Letter and Paths. Normally, Windows does this automatically, but sometimes because of other connected devices, your external hard drive will be recognized, but not have any drive letter assigned to it. If the drive shows up here, but not in Windows Explorer, you might have to assign a drive letter to the disk. In order to figure out whether your problem is related to formatting or to not being recognized, go to Disk Management in Windows or Disk Utility on OS X and see if the drive shows up there. ![]() This is usually a problem with drivers or hardware. I tried this, but neither drive was recognized using both the adapter and the Thermaltake docking station. Before booting Mint disable it so Mint can write to your internal HDD.Īfter booting back to Windows you may need to change your clock time. If Mint cannot mount the drives then there must be a hardware issue with the drives but strange both drives act the same way. If you do not have a Dell or HP you can do a google to see what boot menu key you tap to select the USB flash drive. You can also burn the iso to a DVD by right clicking and selecting Burn Disk Image. ![]() Select Eject.Īttach the USB flash drive and tap the key for your boot menu. After the copy is finished then click This PC and right click the virtual DVD drive. Copy all the files in the File Explorer window to a USB flash drive formatted FAT32. After download open the iso file by right clicking it on your Windows 10 computer and selecting mount. I'm not sure it will work but you could boot a live linux disk and see if the drives can be mounted using it. ![]()
